Centres of mission
We support and empower those most in need. Through partnership and collaboration, we change lives and nurture belonging.
What are Centres of Mission?
Across the UK and Ireland, we partner with dioceses to identify the most desperate social needs of an area. To start having an impact we pioneer local community projects that build relationships, support those living in poverty, and grow creative, accessible church communities. We call these projects Centres of Mission.
No two Centres of Mission look the same. They are entirely shaped by the needs of their area and the people who live there. When a new Centre launches, our keyworkers uproot and move to that location and become part of the community. It’s through this level of investment in an area that we see life transforming change to individuals and their communities.
Through our Centres of Mission, last year we saw:
108 people come to faith for the first time
45 rediscover their faith

“At the beginning of June, following on a short project to gather domestic care packs for women, we connected with a large group of Ukrainian refugees being housed for the summer in nearby student accommodation. There were about 300 people, including 85 children. These refugees had endured traumatic journeys, and many arrived with little more than one suitcase. They came to Ireland with little certainty of what was coming next.
During the time they have been with us we have been able to provide space for the children to play, good coffee and a listening ear. We have run a four-morning Lego camp and plan to run some English classes, hopefully a group for adults, and one for kids during the summer holidays.
While one thirteen-year-old lad called Max was playing basketball, his mum said that she hadn't seen him smile like that for months.
These refugees have found a welcome and a place to belong in Cork but also, they long for and pray for an end to the conflict and to return home to family and friends.”
